Seasonal / Yearly Programs
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) — statewide program through Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS). Cash and crisis grants help pay heating or cooling bills.
Emergency heating assistance via United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County (UWCCC) — for deliverable fuels (oil, propane, wood pellets, etc.) for households in their service area, if eligible.
2025 Program & Deadline Details (as of late 2025)
The 2025–2026 LIHEAP season: application by mail or online was supposed to begin Nov 3, 2025.
Update: Because of a recent federal government shutdown, the 2025-26 LIHEAP season has been delayed to start on December 3, 2025.
For previously open 2024–2025 LIHEAP season: cash and crisis grants were available beginning Nov 4, 2024; applications remained open through April 18, 2025.
Typical LIHEAP cash grants range from $200 to $1,000, depending on household size, income, and fuel type.
Crisis grants are available if you face heating emergencies (lack of fuel, heating system failure, risk of shut-off, etc.) and may be awarded in addition to cash grants.
